CFWS Insight acquired Insight Associates in December 2012. Insight Associates was unofficially formed in May 1993 when the founders (Employee Information and Experience Summaries) were working for American Real Estate Group (AREG) in Stockton, CA. AREG was owned by the Robert M. Bass Group (Bass) of Fort Worth, TX and was responsible for managing the troubled-asset portfolio of New West Federal Savings.

In 1992, Bass initiated efforts to purchase the asset portfolio from New West with the intent of streamlining AREG operations and liquidating the new portfolio more quickly and more efficiently than AREG could.

Preparations began early in 1993 for the establishment of a new, smaller company (Brazos Advisors) which would manage the newly acquired portfolio. Four of the senior managers from AREG's MIS and Strategic Planning departments were working on the startup project for this new company. These four managers decided that upon completion of the startup project, they would split off from Brazos and form their own consulting company to continue to assist Bass with management efforts as well as make their services available to other firms.

By late 1993, Brazos was operational -- and the four managers had successfully completed the downsizing of information systems. In May of 1994, Insight officially incorporated. On August 15, 1994, the four managers left Brazos employ and Insight signed its first agreement with Brazos to provide MIS strategic planning and application development services. During much of 1995 through 1997, Insight spent only a small amount of time providing management consulting services with the bulk of Insight's efforts focused on working with medium-sized companies, developing customized business applications on the client/server platform.

By the end of 1997, Insight had begun to expand its horizons, offering Real Estate Analysis and Management services and Network Technical Services as well as Business and Information Management Services. In 1998, Insight expanded its operations to include development of business software products. 1999 saw the establishment of RealINSIGHT Software and the release of two products, RealBRIDGE and RealLINK-PM. In addition, services and offerings were expanded to include Technical Staffing and Recruiting. In 2000, RealBRIDGE 2.0 was released and the sales and support organization was expanded to support the growing user population. 2001 saw the release of RealBRIDGE 3.0, continued growth in customer-base and organization. 2002-2003 were tough years for technology, but Insight took advantage of the opportunity to rethink strategic direction, begin development on RealBRIDGE 4.0 and convert to the .Net development environment. 2004 brought new opportunities to extend our services to the CMBS industry with the release of CAMS Commercial Asset Management System (with specific modules for the CMBS Servicers). By 2010 CAMS has changed into a full-featured Asset Management system, supporting not only CMBS Special Servicing but all types of Commercial Asset Management Portfolios.
